Qingming Bridge, special, singular, unique... China’s Grand Canal goes from Beijing until Hanzhou through the Wuxi city, in the Jiangsu province. In the downtown of the city, along the Grand Canal is located the Qingming Bridge, which is the most famous and historic bridge in Wuxi. The Qingming Bridge is a spectacular place where people can feel, enjoy and be part of an ancient city. Moreover, it overlooks a beautiful and splendid canal, which goes parallel to the Nanchang Jie (Nanchang Street). Since several years ago, this area has been developing very fast thanks to the proximity to the canal. Nowadays, Wuxi city has managed to preserve not only the Qingming bridge but also the about 100-years old-residences that are along the canal. By the way, this bridge was built at the end of the 16th century, during the Ming Dynasty, and it changed its name from Qingning to Qingming during the Qing Dynasty.
